At an unknown location, near a remote asylum, a group of young bald boys are receiving tattoos of bar codes on the back of their heads as well as men observing, directing, and coordinating the training of these young boys in firearms and hand-to-hand combat, as well as stamina and strength. In these scenes, it is shown that these young boys are trained from an early age to be professional, international hitmen-for-hire that these films are based around.

Speed is a 1994 American action-thriller film directed by Jan de Bont. LAPD officer Jack Traven becomes the focus of a bomber and extortionist, retired Atlanta bomb squad sergeant Howard Payne. The film takes place in Los Angeles in 1993. In 1997, a sequel, Speed 2: Cruise Control, was released. Sandra Bullock agreed to star again as Annie, for financial backing for another project, but Keanu Reeves declined the offer to return as Jack. As a result, Jason Patric was written into the story as Alex Shaw, Annie's new boyfriend, with her and Jack having broken up due to her worry about Jack's dangerous lifestyle. Willem Dafoe starred as the villain John Geiger, and Glenn Plummer (who played Reeves' carjacking victim) also cameos as a boat driver. The film is considered one of the worst sequels of all time.
These two films explore the theme of technological threats. In the first, a systems analyst discovers a dangerous program and becomes a target of a high-tech organization attempting to erase her identity. The second film follows a young analyst in Istanbul who finds her identity stolen amidst a web of deceit. Both films highlight the dangers of technology, with the first explicitly portraying a high-tech organization's malicious actions and the second subtly presenting the threat through stolen identity. These narratives also delve into the ethical implications of technological advancements, urging viewers to reflect on the balance between innovation and ethics. The films present the paradox of technology as both a tool for progress and a source of chaos, inviting thoughtful consideration of its dual nature.
